Susanne Ewerlöf and Trine Hansen undertook a collaborative residency in the UmArts Research studio during February 2026.
Focused on sites around Árviesjávrrie / Arvidsjaur, Trine Hansen, architect and musician, and Susanne Ewerlöf, curator and PhD student at the Valand Academy in Göteborg, are trying to understand how history, heritage and place interact. During February, they were resident in Ubmeje/Umeå at the invitation of UmArts to start the process of building an art installation/space for open conversations and art. The residency will contribute to their artistic research project Spekulationsworkshop kring det glömda skogssamiska arvet (2025-26) funded by an exploratory workshop grant from the Swedish Research Council. During their residency they created a structure for dialogue, a space that is open-ended, and in perpetual use for conversations and gatherings.
