Zeno Gries invites you to a séance at Gallery Verkligheten in the ongoing exhibition ”Out of the Invisible.”
Is anybody out there?
The use of technology for spirit communication dates back to the late 19th century, beginning with spirit photography. By the 1950s, self-described ”transcommunication researchers” began experimenting with electrical media, such as tape recordings and radio waves, to reach the spirit world.
Today, in the digital age, companies in Silicon Valley are developing and marketing ”death bots” — AI that is trained with the data of deceased people in order to create immortal digital versions of them.
Working with these entanglements of new technologies and old narratives, we will attempt an experiment together. What might a séance look like in the age of AI? Where do our networks really end?
The event has a limited number of 10 spots, and you can sign up using the form below. Welcome!

It will be a safe space for discourse, discussion and experimentation.
Bring one question for the dead.
